Allergies can be a risk factor for eczema and by finding allergic triggers and reducing exposure to those triggers much can be done to reduce symptoms.
Allergy testing may involve:
- Blood Tests - A blood sample is taken to measure total IgE levels and specific IgE levels to suspected allergies such as nuts or milk.
- Skin Prick Tests (NOT provided at this clinic) - Skin prick tests can be useful to confirm or exclude a penicillin or latex allergy.
- Patch Testing (NOT provided at this clinic) - Patch testing can be arranged to confirm or exclude a contact allergic dermatitis.
