What is skin tag removal?
Snip excision is a useful technique for removing skin tags. This can be done with or without local anaesthetic depending on your preference. The skin tag is pulled up by forceps and then snipped with a sharp pair of scissors. Cautery is used to stop any bleeding which leaves a tiny superficial burn which takes about 10 days to heal. Antibiotic ointment is then applied to the wounds.
Snip excision is in the minor procedure room in the out-patient department. It takes about 15-30 minutes depending on the number of skin tags to be treatment.
