Why is Efudix prescribed?
Efudix is used for the treatment of sun damage spots such as solar keratoses (actinic keratoses) and bowen's disease.
How does Efudix work?
Efudix works by selectively destroying the abnormal cells. It does not affect normal healthy skin.
What side effects may occur using Efudix?
During treatment your skin will probably look and feel worse before it gets better.
- You may develop redness and crusting due to abnormal cells dying this is a sign that Efudix is working effectively.
- Other side effects are burning, itching and pain.
- Areas of skin that looked normal may become red and inflamed because Efudix also treats invisible lesions that are not yet apparent to the naked eye.
