Fees & Insurance
The Birmingham Skin Clinic provides transparent and straightforward pricing for private dermatology care with Dr Michelle Thomson. Whether you are self funding or using private medical insurance, all fees are explained clearly before treatment begins.
Consultation fees
The cost of a consultation includes a detailed assessment, review of your medical history and personalised advice on diagnosis and treatment.
- Initial consultation: £200.00
- Follow up consultation: £150.00
If additional procedures or investigations are needed, such as biopsies or skin surgery, these will be discussed in advance. A full breakdown of fees is provided so that you can make an informed decision about your care.
Self funding patients
Many patients choose to self fund their treatment. Payment is made directly to the clinic and you do not need private health insurance to book an appointment. This option offers fast access to care without waiting lists.
Using private medical insurance
The Birmingham Skin Clinic is recognised by all major UK private health insurers. This may be a policy you hold personally or one provided through your employer. You may be able to claim consultation and treatment costs depending on your level of cover.
Recognised insurers include
- Bupa
- AXA PPP
- Vitality
- WPA
- Exeter
- Cigna
- Aviva
If you plan to use insurance, please check your policy for any requirements such as a GP referral letter, authorisation codes or excess payments. The clinic can provide invoices and clinical details where needed for your insurer.
Payment and billing
If you are using insurance, you may be required to pay any policy excess directly to the clinic once your insurer has processed the claim.
