Venous lakes
Venous lakes are soft, compressible blue lesions caused by dilated veins. They most commonly appear on sun exposed areas such as the lower lip or the rim of the ear. Although harmless, they may bleed or darken with temperature changes and can be cosmetically concerning.
Features
- Blue or purple colour
- Soft and compressible
- Often solitary
- Darken with heat or pressure
Laser treatment
Vascular lasers can successfully shrink the vessel responsible for the venous lake. This offers an alternative to surgical removal with minimal downtime.
- Targets deep vessels safely
- Often requires a small number of sessions
- Improves symmetry and colour of the area
